Year 6 - 2017 - 2018 : Tigers Class
Term 3 update -
The Tigers have been working hard on an environmental campaign to try and encourage people to stop buying plastic straws. Some of the children's work can be seen below.
Remember: follow their advice, stop buying plastic straws and help the environment. I'm certainly going to make a change now!
Term 1 update - A message from Mr Brundle
I'm very pleased to be back teaching Year 6 this year and I'm looking forward to a fantastic year with the 2017 Tigers, assisted by Mrs Button, Mrs Ireland, Miss Kelly and Mrs Kirby!
This is a very important time for Year 6, with their SATs coming towards the end of the year. However, that doesn't mean the class will be missing out on other subjects and I hope they will have plenty of fun learning in the classroom.
We will be studying World War 2 for the first two terms this year and will be going on our first school trip to Dover Castle in October. Our first class novel will be Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian and I expect the children will do some fantastic writing, using the book as a a stimulus.
We will be covering a wide range of mathematical concepts and revising all those areas that the children may have forgotten over the long Summer holidays. In Science we will be exploring materials and their properties.

Homework is usually set on a Friday and expected back, completed, by the following Wednesday. Spellings are set on Mondays and tested on the Friday of the same week - note: spellings are not set for homework in terms 5 & 6. Reading and mental arithmetic skills are also essential skills that each pupil needs to have – anything you can assist with at home is genuinely beneficial and will always be of benefit to your child’s education. (As is a good night’s rest!).
For your information
Although we will usually be doing PE on a Friday, we would prefer if PE kits were kept in school all week and taken home to wash at the weekend.
I’m sure this will be a fantastic year for the Tigers and if you do have any problems, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
SATs Week Timetable

This concludes the testing as writing is assessed at a county level with other schools within the Kent authority remit.
