Mad Science Day

Lydd Primary School recently had a Science Day, which was run completely for free by a collaboration between Balfour Beatty and the National Grid, linked to EDF Energy at Dungeness Power Station.

The day began with an assembly on why children shouldn’t play on construction sites and how trained professionals stay safe. Each class then received a ‘Mad Science’ show (Reception-Y1) or workshop (Y2-6) which taught them how electricity works using visual experiments and hands on circuit making tasks. This involved audience participation with a plasma ball, fire and static electricity to name a few. There were a few whizzes, bangs and pops!
